Moscow Stud Farm No. 1 Hosts Nikolay Shurygin Memorial Cup

On 24–25 September 2022, Moscow Stud Farm No. 1 hosted the traditional Nikolay Shurygin Show Jumping and Dressage Memorial Cup.

Nikolay Shurygin was a master breeder and head of the Stud Farm’s international equestrian auction. Since 1993, Moscow Stud Farm No. 1 has held a tournament at the last weekend of September as a tribute to his professional accomplishments.

This year, the organisers set up five show jumping courses: routes with obstacles up to 120 cm, 110 cm, 100 cm and 60 cm high, as well as a route for cavaletti jumps involving riding skills. Participants also competed for the Prix St. Georges in dressage. The total prize pool was RUB267,000.

The tournament started on 24 September, with beginners, children, and senior athletes competing in show jumping at the outdoor arena of Moscow Stud Farm No. 1.

The traditional special prize contest for Orlov Trotters was held on the 100-cm route. Prince, a bay Orlov Trotter (born in 2016 and owned by Anna Chebysheva from the Almaz Equestrian Club) won the prize.

Results for other categories:

-        Route 4 – 60 cm in jump-off: Alina Kachalova riding Orlov mare Spartakiada from the Unicorn Equestrian Club, Komi Republic

-        Route 5 – Cavaletti jumps involving riding skills in jump-off: Maria Grigorieva riding Krasa, from Acron, Moscow region

-        Route 1 – 120 cm: Anatoly Shishkov riding So Easy from Acron

-        Route 2 – 110 cm: Daniil Shishkov riding Optika from Acron finished first among young riders, and Alexander Dudov riding Henry from the Novy Vek Equestrian Club, Moscow, topped the overall standings

-        Route 3 – 100 cm: Daria Ivanova riding Radzhura from Acron took first place among youth and Vera Cherkasova riding Gades from Acron won the competition among amateur athletes

-        Route 4 – 60 cm: Ekaterina Zolotaryova riding Zvezda Narnii from Acron was the best among youth and Alexandra Polyakova riding Lucky Boy from the Molodezhny Equestrian Club, Moscow region, finished first among amateur athletes

-        Route 5 – Cavaletti jumps involving riding skills: Daria Ivanova riding Poma from Acron

Dressage tests were held on 25 September. Alexandra Lebedenko riding Kasablanka from the Molodezhny Equestrian Club, Moscow region, won the Prix St. Georges.
