Moscow Stud Farm Hosts Seminar on Combined Driving

On 16 February, Moscow Stud Farm No. 1 and Rosplemkonzavod Association launched a series of seminars on combined and carriage driving

The first seminar, billed as ‘Driving is the Unfamiliar Equestrian Sport. What Beginners Need to Know (Theory and Practice)’, brought together over 50 attendees and three lecturers who are leading professionals and competing equestrians.

In his welcome address, Moscow Stud Farm No. 1 Director Yury Prokhorov spoke about the future of the Orlov Trotter in carriage driving. The well-known Dutch equestrian, European champion and driving world cup winner Bram Chardon, praised the breed in a video address. ‘Zenit and Zagar’s successful performance demonstrates the universality of the breed and also sparks interest among European lovers of driving disciplines’.

Other speakers at the seminar included prominent professionals and coaches:
  • Olga Efimova, senior coach of national youth driving teams and member of the Russian Equestrian Federation for driving
  • Inna Ivleva, member of the national driving team, member of the Russian Equestrian Federation for driving, director of the Orlov Trotter and Russian Troika Museum
  • Leonid Shevchenko, participant and winner of national and international driving competitions, founder of the Orlov Trotter and Russian Troika Museum
The in-person portion of the seminar took place at the riding hall of Moscow Stud Farm No. 1. Participants enjoyed first-hand the Orlov Trotters’ inherently natural manner of driving sports carriages (the Spider phaeton and marathon vehicles). The driving show also featured a pony club team from the Moscow Zoo.

The series of training seminars will continue. Follow us and stay tuned!
