He did equally well in short-, middle-, and long-distance races, which speaks to his excellent speed, strength, endurance, health, and proper handling. Peon demonstrated outstanding results with enviable consistency: at the age of six, he showed the best time in 1,600-m races (2:01.9), at the age of seven he posted the best time in 3,200-m races (4:21.4), at the age of eight he won 2,400-m races (3:10.6), and at the age of ten he finished first in 4,800-m races (6:40.4).

Peon was the son of 11311 Nikotin 2:07.5 and 18608 Profilaktika (never raced) by sire 10629 Fant 2:00.9 (r).

Peon’s sire Nikotin 2:07.5, bay, 1993, did not perform well in the Bars Prize competition of 1997, taking only 3rd prize. Still, he turned out to be an outstanding breeding stallion at Khrenovskoy Stud Farm, siring 20 horses of the speed class of 2:10 and faster, including five horses of the speed class of 2:05 and faster: Peon 2:01.9, Zavetny 2:02.1, 1st Bars Prize in 2010, Mengir 2:03.1, Garant 2:03.8, and Biatlon 2:03.9. Nikotin’s sire Kipr 2:03.5 won the Bars and the Great All-Union prizes in 1986 and was the breed’s 15-time record-setter. He sired two Bars Prize winners, Sektor 2:04.4 in 1993 and Lakei 2:07.4 in 1997. He was also the sire of 32 horses who made it to the speed class of 2:10 and faster, including five horses of the speed class of 2:05.

Peon’s dam was Profilaktika, grey, born in 1994 by Moscow stallion Fant 2:00.9. Fant was the son of the famous Fleita 2:24.9, who foaled six horses of the speed class of 2:10 and faster. Fleita belonged to the line of Fabula’s female offspring, who foaled such outstanding stallions as Fortunato 2:04.7 (Bars Prize winner of 1977) and Fagot 2:02.3. Fabula’s female descendants also foaled the mare Floristika (2:03.8), who won the Bars Prize in Moscow and Ramenskoye in 2012, and set records at the age of two, three, and four.

Fant sired the following dams:

- Monografia 2:15.5, the dam of three horses of the speed class of 2:10 and faster, including Mengir 2:03.1 and Mizantrop 2:04.4 (1st place in the Bars Prize competition in Ramenskoye).

- Zoografia 2:08.2, the dam of Zavetny 2:02.1 (1st place in the Bars Prize competition in 2010), Zador 2:02.9 (1st and 2nd (shared) place in the Pion Prize competition in 2013), and Zemlyanika 2:08.1.

- Pifa (2:08.5), the dam of Piligrim (2:04.3, 1st place in the Bars Prize competition in 2011), Porporina (2:08.1), Grafika (2:09.5), Vaflya (2:15.5), and others.

Profilaktika’s dam Problema 2:12.5 and 2nd dam Puma (2:16.5) were prolific stud farm dams.

Problema foaled Prokaznik (2:07.8, runner-up in the Bars Prize competition in 1999) and Playboy (2:05.6, winner of the Bars Prize competition in 1994).

Puma foaled four stallions who made it to the speed class of 2:10 and faster, including Perepolokh, who set a record of 2:05.7 at the age of three.

Peon’s pedigree features outstanding stallions and mares both on the sire and the dam sides and shows excellent speed and performance qualities in every generation.
