MOSCOW STUD FARM NO 1 HOLDS EXPERT DRESSAGE TEST FOR YOUNG ORLOV TROTTERS

On 25 May 2022, Moscow Stud Farm No 1 held an expert dressage test for young Orlov Trotters born in 2021. The event brought together horse breeders, experts in the horse breeding industry, potential buyers at the annual auction of Orlov Trotter horses, partners, and friends of Moscow Stud Farm No 1. The dressage test was a traditional show of young animals in anticipation of the annual auction.

The top specialists at Moscow Stud Farm No 1 — General Director Yury Prokhorov and head livestock breeder Sergey Kuzyakin — spoke before the dressage tests, explaining some of the nuances of working with the breed in general and with each specific foal.

The tests were opened by Goroskop, an impressive grey stallion born in 2012 at Moscow Stud Farm No 1 (Kanyuk - Girlanda), the best Orlov Trotter champion in type and conformation in 2015 and 2017 and the absolute champion among Russian stallions in type and conformation in 2019, from which a large number of foals were born in 2021. Ten of his descendants (six colts and four fillies) followed in the dressage tests.

In total, 32 foals participated in the dressage tests (out of the 47 foals scheduled for showing at the fall 2022 auction). All the experts in attendance noted the excellent quality of the horses and of the dressage tests overall.

Dressage tests of young horses traditionally take place in May, before the animals go to pasture until September. While foals grow and change during the summer months, spring is not too early to assess them for conformation. Horse industry experts and specialists, potential buyers, and partners of Moscow Stud Farm No 1 were invited to the dressage test for this purpose.

Stay tuned for further announcements and news. The catalogue of horses up for auction on 1 October 2022 will be available soon.
