MOSCOW STUD FARM NO 1 HOLDS ANNUAL AUCTION OF ORLOV TROTTERS

On 2 October 2021, Moscow Stud Farm No 1 presented 34young Orlov Trotters at its annual Orlov Trotters auction. Additionally, three pregnant mares were shown. Eighteen animals found buyers for USD66,300. The most expensive lots were the red-grey filly Kievlyanka (Finikiec-Kia) and the red filly Konferenciya (Finikiec-Kartahena) worth USD6,000 each.

Kievlyanka is the daughter of a female Golden Champion of Russia according to the results of the international exhibition Equine Russia 2021. Kadetka line, Krestnitsa family. This mare line presents some of the most expensive lots at the annual Orlov Trotters auction and is one of the most sought-after racing lines at the Stud Farm. This medium-sized, energetic, and elegant mare, with excellent temperament and conformation and a well-balanced trot in the style of Imperator, showed good speed potential. Kievlyanka is inbred with Karapet, has Pion among her distant relatives, and is descended from purebreds on Kia’s side through Poklon and Vybor and on her father’s side, through Fabula. This combination of Pion and purebred blood has proved its viability and delivered excellent results at the hippodrome: Peon 2:01.9, Zavetny 2:01.5, Kaif 2:02.9, Korifey 2:00.3, Povelitel Khan 2:00.6.

Konferenciya from Finikiec and Kartahena (Round - Kovboyka from Kovboy). Kadetka line, Krestnitsa family. Well-built, pronounced carriage type with surprising trotting abilities. Konferenciya’s origins placed her at the forefront of the 2020 auction. This mare is inbred with Uklon and descended from Pion, with purebreds in her lineage on both the maternal and paternal sides (Vybor, Poklon, Fabula).

Yury Prokhorov, General Director of Moscow Stud Farm No 1, noted: 'The 2020 crop of Orlov Trotter foals comes from well-known studs like Kriket, Povelitel Khan, Kanyuk, Kantsler, and Finikiec. All the foals are bright and smart, with the right conformation and breeding. Many of them have excellent prospects for racing, carriage riding, exhibitions, and breeding. We are pleased that most of the lots were sold to well-known horse breeders and amateurs from Russia and the CIS'.

This was the first auction to be open to spectators, who enjoyed the atmosphere of the equestrian festival and watched a dressage tests of Orlov Trotters, a presentation by mounted police from Moscow, and a troika driven by Leonid Smagliy.
