Letter from Yury Prokhorov, Director of Moscow Stud Farm No. 1

Dear Friends,

On the eve of the New Year, we tally up the results of the year gone by and make plans for the future. The pandemic and job cuts in the dairy industry made 2021 a difficult year and hindered our operations significantly.

However, our strong team rose to the challenges. Moscow Stud Farm No. 1 continued selective Orlov Trotter breeding in strict compliance with our processes, using the most promising sires. We tested Orlov Trotter youngsters on three racetracks and held a successful autumn auction.

Our Stud Farm continued promoting Orlov Trotters at all levels. In cooperation with the Rosplemkonzavod Association and the Russian Carriage Driving Lovers Society, we held the first-ever Winged Heart of Russia Russian Troika tournament. Our horses participated in trade fairs and shows around Russia, and some of them were once again sold to the United States at the autumn auction.

Horses bred at our Stud Farm won prizes on several racetracks: Fakir won the Bars Prize at the Moscow Hippodrome, Banduristka received the Chesmensky Stud Farm Prize, Kalligrafia came in first at Russia’s competition for three-year-old mares, Bonapartistka took first place at a race in Ramenskoye, and Kamtchadalka was the best in Kazan. All these victories, supported by our team, our owners, and our jockeys, reflect on the high quality of the Orlov Trotters bred at Moscow Stud Farm No. 1.

We are not going to rest on our laurels. Next year, our team will continue to contribute to the development of national horse breeding, primarily through the breeding of Orlov Trotters.

In the upcoming year, I wish our partners, close associates, and team robust health, a strong spirit, and fresh achievements in all their new projects.

Sincerely yours,

Yury Prokhorov
